Dear Artists
We hope you all are safe and healthy.
We will be keeping this one short because a lot of the conversation will be happening over these two virtual sessions that we are hosting this weekend.
We decided to do these virtual sessions so that we can take our minds off the news and talk to few artists about what they have been doing recently.
IG Live Session 5 PM IST today with Nikhil D’Souza and Raghav Meattle about their latest release Shades of Grey on @platformforartists
In what certainly sets a benchmark for collaborations in the Indian indie music scene, singer-songwriter Nikhil D’Souza released his new single, bringing together popular singers, Raghav Meattle and Rajan Batra to uplift his thought provoking new single, ‘Shades of grey’ – a track that talks about the recklessness of our youth and how with age we see the ‘maybe’ between the yes and the no.
This track promises to be different with the coming together of these three super talented singers, who combine their very distinct vocal textures to deliver a powerful sonic experience. Shades of grey is an English-Hindi blend of these three voices with Rajan adding his lyrical and vocal charm on the Hindi section.
What we don’t understand about Indian Media? ft Ramit Verma aka Peeing Human
A digital activist cum satirist, Ramit Verma is the founder of the channels Official PeeingHuman and Kroordarshan. Ramit aims to analyze & critique Indian politics & media through the language of memes. His work facilitates informed political conversations with the help of humor. His videos try and capture the absurdity, contradictions, and biases of Indian journalists, news, and politics. He has also been studying the airtime that mainstream news channels allocate to major issues to understand their editorial bent and his findings are sad to say the least and quite worrying.
We have witnessed the transformation of media houses into circus outlets, as media ethics were dumped into the bin and as journalists started acting as self-proclaimed experts in everything from drugs to Covid-19, we just stood and stared at our television screens in harrowing disbelief. We will try to understand how we reached here, how did we let media goons hijack our democracy, why do these media channels succeed in playing with our vulnerabilities, and many more things with Ramit on the 25th of April at 12 pm. This is an invite only session and to be a part of this conversation register from the below link.
We hope you all are taking good care of yourself and staying indoors.
If we can be of any help to you all please reach out to us on Instagram @platformforartists and we will try our best to accommodate something for you.
